Idle wheelies, step one of becoming a "real" stunter. Whether you've been playing around with power wheelies for a while or never even attempted to get your front wheel off the ground, this method will put you on track towards smooth, controlled, slow idle wheelies.
This is how I personally learned, some of the points may or may not help you, but I hope you take away a few ideas that help you develop your own method to learn idle wheelies. Remember crashing is all part of the game, get a crash cage and wear your gear.

thank you so much for this one!!!!
this is a big help for me personally, since i'm someone that hasn't really been able to do wheelies very well, and want to learn slow wheelies from the start. . .great job, keep it up.

I LOVE STUNTBUMS!!! Another great Tutorial!! Your lovely Tig haha!!
Are these 1st gear or 2 gear clutch ups?
First gear.
Awesome! Thank you. Gonna go try this today
Good luck! Let us know how it goes
Yeah, I got nothin. Haha I wasn't expecting to be a master, but I figured I'd at least get an inch or two off the ground. I'm riding a 2007 ZX6R with a 50T in the rear and idle at 3800. Any more pointers? Just give it more gas?
Ya, come to a complete stop, then it's just gas from that point.
Hey Esteban Sierra, why dont you grow some balls and romp it standing up in second. Your slipper clutch sucks. Get a rear handbrake. Oh yeah and practice, practice, PRACTICE! Who cares if it's cold. I bet Leah Petersen practices in the cold weather ;)
@Chris the point of this method is to learn idle, with a foot brake, so using a handbrake and second gear would defeat the purpose. @Esteban, I say take it slow, you will get it - and your body and bike will thank you. With time you will be crushing it. We have a series of videos from "Tone" on our site, he learned with this method and talks about his experience.
Ms Leah, I was just messing with Esteban. He's my old roommate and a bestfriend. I drove out to lubbock last week to help him. His bike is tricky in first. I was trying them in first like you describe. But not staggered. The wheel kept spinning. I could ride them in second no sweat. I just like to give him a hard time. I'd rather him take your advice than mine anyday. Or any pro for that matter. No hard feelings ms Leah
@Chris ahhhh - I see, I thought you were just randomly picking on a newb
Good to hear you know him in real life.
Everytime I come to a complete stop on two wheels and then give my throttle a blip and let out my STOCK clutch lever on my f41 all I ever seem to get is rear tire spin instead of the front end coming up. Any tips? I raised my idle like you suggested and lowered my tire pressure to about 15 psi. It is pretty cold out in New Jersey right now. Should I warm my tire up more and then give it a shot or do you have any other ideas why it might be spinning instead of lifting the front wheel. Thanks so much
-Paul
Great Tutorial !
@Paul, ya cold weather wheelies are tricky, it's all about gas/clutch ratio. It would be a good video actually
