Cutting down your exhaust is a crucial part in building a fully-functional stunt bike (unless you're balling and happen to own something like a Two Brothers Black-series shorty). Long pipes will hit the ground and either damage the pipe severely or perhaps rip your muffler and midpipe off the headers, which is both annoying and potentially dangerous. Cutting down your exhaust can be a bit of a puzzle, depending on how your specific pipe is constructed, but with some planning and a little creativity you will find it’s a pretty simple task.

Joe from Orlando shows us how to cut down a Micron exhaust, which you will see is a bit different than most pipes, since it has an allen key bolt holding on the top of the can. If your pipe has pop rivets up top simply drill them out, or if it's welded (like a stock f4i can) cut flush at the weld and find a good welder to weld it back together when you're done. But the most important thing is to think through the whole process before you cut, drill or make any bad decisions you can’t take back. Take some time to understand how the can is held together and how you will put it back together after removing some length.

Good luck with your cans and remember to take care of your eyes, fingers and other appendages when playing with saws and welders.
