About this time last year we hit up Julien Welsch for a detailed report on switching from the very common Kawasaki 636 stunt bike to the Triumph Street Triple. Check the article here

A year later we have seen the Triumph's slowly leaking into our sport more and more. Riders making the swap are praising the agile, powerful bikes saying they are perfect for pushing the current limits of our sport. Randy Callicoat busted out on a Daytona 675 for a few XDL's back in 2010 and really set the stage for BMX-inspired flatland tricks. It was probably more Callicoat's skill and less the Daytona, but regardless, he started a trend that has undoubtedly stuck.

In 2011 Julien has been rocking out on his Street Triple, stunting around the word and picking up a Championship title at the German Open. Mai-Lin from Germany has been spotted as a blur of pink speeding by on her Triumph and Seb5 has been honing his skills on the Triple all year in France.  We also heard from factory Triumph rider Lukey Luke last week here who rocks his trumpet fleet down under.

Word on the street is that Team Empire; Ernie Vigil and Nick Brocha will be busting up the concrete at XDL this year on their 675's and ICON'S DRIFT 2, which is set to drop in the next couple months. The sequel to 2011's DRIFT will feature the boys burning through turns on a blazing hot set of 1050's. If 2011 was the year of "drifts" will 2012 be the year of the Triumph?
