Stunter Versus the Public: The Cager Death Threats

Bikers vs cagers: two demographics who seemingly can't seem to share the public roads they are both entitled to use. Like most tension in the world, the problems stem mostly from ignorance and inability to respect another's way of life.

For example, in California, many car drivers don't know lane splitting is perfectly legal and develop hatred for any two-wheeled commuter whizzing past them in bumper to bumper traffic. It's common for this hatred to boil-over resulting in car drivers acting violent towards bikers; swerving towards them, opening car doors, etc. The drivers seemingly forget they are in a vehicle capable of maiming and easily killing an unprotected biker.

A few days ago Leann Schmitt of Dallas County complained to the police that she had been "frightened" when "stunt bikers" caused "minor damage" to her car when they "punch it off" - we are guessing the journalist was referring to her side mirror, but the original article doesn't say.

We will not dispute the fact that some bikers could have just randomly harassed this woman, BUT, more often than not - a biker will not chance breaking his knuckles by punching off some random woman's side mirror. So what did Leann do to warrant this type of behavior from the "stunt bikers?"

The article doesn't say. In fact the whole article is written solely from the information provided by this frustrated woman. Luckily, when she called the police they refused to do anything telling her, "If we are to identify suspects who have committed some crime, then something can be done."

One-sided reporting is unfortunate and clearly enforces the public misperception that all bikers are hooligans and baby killers; but the local biker-car drama went a step further when a local woman wrote what essentially is a death-threat on Facebook:

This statement really shows the blatant ignorance and bigotry of some car drivers. A local rider reposted her rant on his Facebook, urging real riders to inform "Wanda" that both themselves and their families were not deserving of vehicular manslaughter. Riders posted up to show Wanda they were real people, who loved their families and she took down the post.

So tell us your stories, experiences and thoughts on the matter.

Thanks to Hawaiian Eddie for calling out the death threat and Zachary Haley for sharing it with us. Check out part two, Stunters Versus the Law: Define the Crime coming tomorrow.

After Preston Cass’s death in the Dallas area which involved stunting on the highways and a police chase it was unbelievable the comments made on the storey one of the local chanels WFAA ran. You’d thought he had raped and killed someone’s daughter from the comments that were being left. I wish there was a simple solution to the friction between the stunt community and some of the drivers but I'm not sure if time or anything else will heal these wounds. Maybe some things are just meant to be.

Man.... Smh.... when are "barbaric" football players etc... branded or keyed in trued hate fashion because of the sport they love!? To MOST (most) stunt riders this is their hobby and even more a lifestyle! AND if their are riders causing trouble plz do not include 'stunt riders' in your comments about crotch roccet riders and crudely describe family driven fathers, firemen, police officers etc.... Unless putting Harley riders )like my dad) in categories of Hells Angels Devils advocate etc.... Um ya prolly.more trouble!!!
