Adding a lip to my tank is something that I've been interested in it for a while, but due to a lack of resources (read: I can't weld) I've tried many times to put it off and instead focus on creating the best initial dent possible. However, after attending a few XDLs and seeing most of the pros with everything from JB welded pieces of tubing, to completely chopped up custom tanks, I realized I needed to focus on finding someone to do it properly.
Luckily enough, last time Leah and I were in Las Vegas, Nick Apex introduced us to the guy who fabricated his excellent tank lip, Kris Higdon. Kris is a native Las Vegas rider and the resident pro when it comes to creating tank lips. The tank lips Kris produces are a step above anything I have ever seen or ridden in. He goes about it in a very meticulous way, doing things such as measuring to ensure he doesn't alter the distance from your bars to your lip and making sure it's rounded off to keep it as safe as possible. This is hands down the best modification I've made to my bike in a while - it feels unbelievable and I have already seen an improvement in my tank circles.
As you can see from the video Kris has this down to a science and has most definitely mastered the art of sweet tank lips. If you're interested in talking to Kris about modifying your tank, contact him through his facebook.

You beat me to it! I've been wanting to weld a lip onto my tank for quite some time now. But that turned out really nice!! Great Work!
Andrew, I just threw some water in and shook it around to get the gas out. When Kris was done welding, I then did the same thing with gas. Put some in, shook it, emptied it out. Rinse and repeat 2 or so times.
what about the CBRS? smaller tank with a plastic shell...im assuming dent the tank then heatpress the plastic over it?
