The Nasty Lot Bums or “NLB” is a group of stunters who have been working on bringing the sport together with their killer sessions and passion for the sport. We talked to Hawaiian Eddie about the group, where they came from and where they’re going. Check it out and follow their Facebook page for information on the next mega-session.
Location: Dallas, TX. But our members come from all over such as Russia, Hawaii and Chicago. Members: Hawaiian Eddie, Black Rod, Danny Lazourievsky, Tommy Nguyen and Johnathan Maxwell Johnson Weirdest thing that has ever happen to you while riding: I don't know if it's really weird but more crazy. Lol. Two people were trying to drag race at our lot. A hayabusa and a CBR1000rr. At take off the rider on the Hayabusa popped the clutch with a liiiiiittle too much throttle and did a destructive wheelie. Lol. Causing him to pancake and break his arm. And in Rod's exact words at the moment, "everytime, everytime." Lol StuntBums: How did the NLB group come together and what do you do? NLB: Well NLB originally started with Zak and myself. We just traveled all over the US and rode with different groups and lot sessions. One day I posted in FB that we're going to hit the lot later. And someone commented in there saying, "you lot bumz must not check the weather." and that is where we came up with Nasty Lot Bumz. We basically just host our two events a year. And do some shows here and there. But mainly ride with good friends. StuntBums: Tell us about your biggest achievement as riders. NLB: Our biggest achievements as a group is hosting one of the best lot sessions in the U.S. Getting everyone together from all over to just have a good time. It is crazy how much attention these lot sessions have gotten. What inspired us to do these types of sessions originally was King Tony's Yo Face sessions in Little Rock, AR and Ken, Brandy and Scott's Btown Showdown in Branson, MO. Just to see everyone having a great time. So we decided to try it out in Dallas. With great success. And only getting better. StuntBums: What obstacles do you guys face keeping a group of riders stunting year after year? NLB: I guess you can say keeping them interested. A lot of money, time and work is put into this sport. And it can definitely take a toll on people. Just got to keep on pushing. Stay motivated. But HAVE FUN. Once you're not having fun, it'll be lost. StuntBums: Tell us about the upcoming event you guys have planned (420 session). NLB: This is our second 420 sesh but our fourth lot sesh we have hosted. It will be in Dallas, TX. And anyone and everyone is welcome to come out a ride or just hang out and spectate. We will have a DJ, food truck serving food, raffle give aways and more. Just an all around great time for everyone! We hope to see everyone out there! For more information on the event click here.

As stunters we spend most our time in the shadows behind industrial warehouses, but today we spoke with a different kind of stunt-man who spends his days on the silver screen. Brian Smyj is a Hollywood stuntman who both coordinates and does stunt work himself. He recently did the stunt coordinating for Ryan Gosling’s new film “The Place Beyond the Pines.”
If you’ve missed it, McDonald’s is airing a national commercial featuring stunt riders in a pretty honest “stunt atmosphere.” While our sport has been developing hidden in the shadows of abandoned industrial parking lots; this commercial has been giving America a peek at what we’ve been up to.
