Drifting.

Hey there guys. I just got myself a Ducati street fighter '10. Saw the vid on how to drift by stunt bums. Got a bit confuse here. Let me just clarify. So, i'm suppose to

-lock up my wheels

-lean into the turn(as well as turning my handle bar)

-dump the clutch

-accelerate

right?

Got a few questions though.

1)as my back wheels lock up and i lean into the turn. I am suppose to dump the clutch. but whn do i need to let go of the back brake? *is it just before i dump the clutch?

2) is there any other methods asides this?

3) any advice or tips?

I'm wondering this also.... I saw the videos, but thought there was going to be more... i'll be attempting drifts this year.

dont know if this helps but how im learning, as i lean into the lock and the bike is skating, i leave my leg on the ground (side to which im leading on) as i think im leaned enough i let go of the clutch and give gasss u can feel the tire spinn. keep practicing, ull get it, make sure your tire is harddddd too

@hazmilo @jason

1. Yup, let off the back brake right as you dump the clutch.
2. I don't really think what we discussed was truly a concrete method.
2. Practice smiley

The biggest problem with talking about drifting is there is a lot of gray. Your tire, the surface your on, how cold it is outside, your gearing, etc. We just wanted to make that video to encourage riders and maybe give you the push and foundational knowledge to go conquer some drifting on your own.

Good luck!

wonderful site! pardon a question on top of what has been asked..Not sure if this is a normal occurence... I'm riding a drz with rear tire pressure up at 30psi.
I lock up rear wheel,
turn left,
dump clutch,
and what happens is that the bike just shoots forward..if i gas it even more, it pulls a wheelie..

anything to do with suspension setting or what could it be?

dying to burn some rubber!!

thanks..

It sounds like you're not letting the bike get sideways enough before dumping the clutch.
