How to start stunting
Hey guys just got a quick question on where to and how to get started stunting. Obviously I have my own bike and it's a GSX-R600. I'm in the military so I move around a lot so I was wondering where I can go to start learning what kind of shit I need to put on my bike. Probably should start with a stunt cage, but and advice would be really helpful.
Hey Seth, a good cage and a bar is a perfect place to start. You can also think about throwing on an EZ-pull clutch, to save your hand
. I think starting with staggered wheelies is best and it's always safer if you try them slow and in a parking lot. Try to find some stunters to hit the lot with, that is the best way to learn. Here is our intro to wheelies video: http://www.stuntbums.com/articles/134/introduction-idle-wheelies
I noticed you didn't mention anything about a sprocket kit. Should I be able to Idle wheelies with just a stock sproket?
if you gonna gear your bike then do it before you start to learn,if you do it later you will need time to get used to a larger sprocket. for sure, you whould be able to idle with stock sprocket. its all personal choice, you can go with +10 or with stock, its all up to you.
I learned idle with stock gearing, it's not a necessity, but it does make it easier. Just don't go crazy with the sprocket, you really won't be able to appreciate a huge sprocket until you get some of the basic skills down.
Also - BIG BALLS! lol. I saw Leah's video and thought 'yeah, I can do that!' But my lack of balls has since proved a bit of a hinderance!
I WANT to get it up and ride it out etc... But my body just won't let me! I also find it a little unbalanced up on the pegs, so maybe trying it sitting is also not doing me any favours...? lol Good luck dude!
Hey Jay, personally I think sit-downs are hard to learn, especially for your first wheelie. While they FEEL safer at first, spend some time trying staggered and you will feel more confident!
It's all about time on the bike, you will get it. Try watching "Tone Learn's Idle" on our YouTube channel, it'll make you feel better ;)
What happened to 'Tone learns idle part 2'...??? Did the youtube censor police take it down?
Leah,in your case staggered wheelies were easier then FIB or FIS when you started?
I didn't like the feeling of having my foot stuck somewhere...I felt like it was a good way to break an ankle. But after I got staggered FIB were SO easy.
Ah, Tone made part 2 himself

Hey Leah just wondering what sprocket size are you using for the back?
I guess I'm too late... Video says it's private.
Hey Jordan, when I first learned idle on my F4i I learned with a stock sprocket. Now I rock a 60 on the 636.
Does anyone have any experience with the heavier bikes (i.e. Sportster 883)? What kind of mods need to be done/are recommended to set it up?
Thanks
Hey I am learning Staggered on an F4i, -1 in the front, +15 in the back... I keep watching videos, and everyone is going really slow... when I am out in the lot, I find myself going pretty fast... does anyone have tips to slow the bike down... I would love to park it, but it feels like Im going way to fast to try that... any words of wisdom would be nice... thanks
After watching lots of the videos on here I have become really inspired to get into the sport of stunting. I have little riding experience since I don't have a bike yet I have been using by dads bike to learn but when I get my own bike I would like to know if engine size is important? All I'm interested in is stunting so could I get away with something small like a 250 or something or should I look for something bigger? I have even been biking as I saw on one of your videos so I can get a pretty good feel for being on one wheel. Anything helps.
@tyler While motors are important, for slow stunts they're not the only thing that matters. Lots of European guys start out on the Aprillia 50s or Honda 125s, and I've seen a few guys stunt the older Ninja 250s.
The main problem with uncommon bikes is just finding replacement parts and getting quality cages, handbrakes, etc.
Speaking of uncommon bikes, does anyone know where I can get a bigger rear sprocket for a honda CBR 125? I've been looking online for a while now and no luck yet. Any help/advice would be awesome
Hey Jenn - have you asked at the Honda dealer? They might be able to help.
Thanks Leah, I'll give that a try
anybody else stunting an 05-06 600rr? What setups do you suggest/recommend? Keeping in mind this is also my commuter bike and no dedicated stunt one yet...
